kindergarten students can attend "Trip through time" at the legacy of the plains museum in Gering. In this 1/2 day visit students will experience hands-on history! step into homes of the past and compare them to the present, shell and grind corn, Wash clothes by hand, make and play with rope, and so much more!

Historical School
Begins September 2024
Fourth grade students can attend “Flowerfield : historical school" in Harrisburg. In this full day event students step back to the year 1888 and experience a 0ne-room school from over 100 years ago that has been authentically restored. In this memorable learning experience, students dress the part with their aprons, pinafores, skirts, bonnets, bows, plaid shirts, jeans, suspenders, bib overalls, knickers, and handkerchiers.

Tools and Technology Through Time

4th Grade
Fourth grade students can attend “Tools and Technology through Time” at the Legacy of the Plains Museum in Gering. In this 1/2 day event, students are introduced to many forms of farm equipment from the past. Activities and subjects include: Giant Pedal Tractor, Sugar Beets, Iron Age, Water, Blacksmith, Simple Machines, Potatoes, and Corn.

W.E.T. - Water Education for Tomorrow
October 8 and 9, 2024
5th Grade
fifth grade students can attend "W.E.T." at the North Platte Natural resource district in Scottsbluff. students are introduced to the importance of Water in our area and the world. activities and subjects include: Surface run-off and stream quality, effects of water erosion, irrigation in the panhandle, Flooding, aquatic wildlife adaptations, storm water, wells, geology, and groundwater, water cycle, and water safety. this is a full day event, in which students bring a sack lunch. Stations are held both outdoors and indoors.

sixth grade students can attend "branch Out" at the Wildcat Hills Nature Center south of Gering. students are introduced to the importance of trees in our area and the world. activities and subjects include: Tree planting, snag tree, tree products and benefits, build a tree, tree id, urban canopy, forest health, and forest firefighting. this is a full day event, in which students bring a sack lunch. Stations are held both outdoors and indoors.
Panhandle Regional Science Fair
March 4, 2025
6th - 12th Grade
Students pick a question they would like to answer or a problem they would like to solve using the scientific method. Students develop a scientific research project, write an abstract of the project, and give an oral presentation the day of the competitions. Students compete in two divisions: Grades 6-8 in the Junior Division and Grades 9-12 in the Senior Division. Each Regional Science Competition will select 6 junior and 6 senior high projects to advance to the State Science Fair in Lincoln.

Jr. Duck Stamp
The Junior Duck Stamp is a pictorial stamp produced by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to recognize the conservation efforts of young people and support environmental and conservation education programs in the United States. The art competition is the culmination of students' study of waterfowl and wetlands conservation in the classroom, homeschool, or non-formal education setting, often using the Junior Duck Stamp Program educational curriculum.
